DESCRIPTION OF THE WORKSHOP
A workshop for professionals offering guidelines on how to structure the creative process of solo physical performance and nurture a supportive working environment. Working with the participants own ideas, this workshop offers suggestions on how to keep the sometimes lonely process of working alone productive and fun. Participants are welcome to bring ideas at any stage of development to the workshop, or with no idea at all. The workshop will cater improvisations and exercises to the participants needs and create a fun and inspiring environment to flesh out or discover your own project.
PRESENTATION OF THE TEACHER
Thom Monckton is a circus and physical theatre artist from Patea a small rural town in New Zealand. Thom studied at New Zealand’s circus school CircoArts at age 17 and then later at the physical theatre school of Jacques Lecoq in Paris where he started his collaboration with european based artists. He now lives in Helsinki, Finland.
Thom has been involved as a performer and director of a number of projects that have achieved international success, particularly solo works, and has been touring worldwide for almost 10 years. As well
